چکیده

Volume segmentation is an important part of medical diagnostics, and fast solutions which nevertheless can handle large datasets are required. This paper presents a diffusion-based method that can be used for volume smoothing and segmentation purposes, and has been implemented on the GPU in order to achieve interactive performance. We describe the nonlinear isotropic and anisotropic diffusion methods, which – in combination with seeded region growing – are also used for segmentation purposes. The procedures are embedded in a highquality hardware based volume renderer and provide interactive data handling and parameter editing.

A Novel Spot-Enhancement Anisotropic Diffusion Method for the Improvement of Segmentation in Two-dimensional Gel Electrophoresis Images, Based on the Watershed Transform Algorithm

Introduction Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2DGE) is a powerful technique in proteomics for protein separation. In this technique, spot segmentation is an essential stage, which can be challenging due to problems such as overlapping spots, streaks, artifacts and noise. Watershed transform is one of the common methods for image segmentation. Nevertheless, in 2DGE image segmentation, the no...

Assessment of the Log-Euclidean Metric Performance in Diffusion Tensor Image Segmentation

Introduction: Appropriate definition of the distance measure between diffusion tensors has a deep impact on Diffusion Tensor Image (DTI) segmentation results. The geodesic metric is the best distance measure since it yields high-quality segmentation results. However, the important problem with the geodesic metric is a high computational cost of the algorithms based on it. The main goal of this ...

Segmentation Assisted Object Distinction for Direct Volume Rendering

Ray Casting is a direct volume rendering technique for visualizing 3D arrays of sampled data. It has vital applications in medical and biological imaging. Nevertheless, it is inherently open to cluttered classification results. It suffers from overlapping transfer function values and lacks a sufficiently powerful voxel parsing mechanism for object distinction. In this work, we are proposing an ...
